A New Experience and an Old Tradition
This weekend I had a new experience and participated in an old tradition. Saturday, I went skydiving with new friends from my ward. Tara organized the event to celebrate her 28th birthday. As I have gotten older, I lost the desire to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. After speaking with Tara, she rekindled my desire to take the plunge.
It was a blast. I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be. I was a little nervous jumping out of the plane. I was more nervous when the chute opened. I figured if anything was going to go wrong…this was it. I didn’t hear any strange noises, like fabric ripping, and my tandem jumper didn’t say “Oh %#^@”. After a few seconds of graceful gliding and silence (instead of falling and the sound of rushing wind), I knew I was going to be fine. We did some maneuvers, and landed safely. I am glad I went. Looking at the earth from 12,000 feet without the confines of an airplane wrapped around you is awesome. It sure beats google earth!

Saturday night, I went to priesthood conference with Dad, Quinten, Gene, and Thomas. We observe this tradition every conference. Afterward, my brothers and their family spend the night at my parent’s house. We get up in the morning, have a large breakfast, and watch conference. Then we have a large lunch and watch the final session of conference. I love hanging out with the family and receiving direction from the leaders the Church.
